Professional Compliance Program
AAOS launched the Professional Compliance Program at the 2004 Annual Meeting in response to the Membership's desire for a means to address the issue of inappropriate or fraudulent expert witness testimony. Since its inception, the program has introduced several initiatives and has developed proposed procedures to review, hear and adjudicate professional compliance grievances based upon Standards of Professionalism. This website affords easy access to existing components of the Professional Compliance Program such as the Standards of Professionalism, the Bylaws of the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the Expert Witness Program. In addition, a link is provided to a chart detailing the process for formal grievances filed under the Professional Compliance Program.
We invite you to send your questions or comments about the AAOS Professional Compliance Program to: professionalcompliance@aaos.org
