What's my password?
Important Note: All member and customer web site accounts and passwords were changed on July 1, 2010. If you have not logged into the AAOS Web site since July 1, 2010:
Please Request Your New Password.
Your default Username is your AAOS ID without any leading zeroes. If you created an account as an employer after July 1, 2010, you may have personalized your Username. If you are trying to log in as an employer, you must be a registered Placement Service participant. If you are registered, you may use the Academy ID number assigned to your practice/medical group. This Academy ID number is also the number located at the bottom of your confirmation sheet.
If you are unable to locate your ID number, you may contact the Service at (847)384-4259, or you may e-mail us at placement@aaos.org.
I can log into the system, but as soon as I make a selection or press a button, I get kicked out. What's the deal?
The errors you are experiencing are most often caused by a browser that does not adequately support the use of 'cookies', which are bits of data that are placed by our web page server onto your computer.
Your username and password are sent back to your computer in the form of these 'cookies', and your continued use of the Placement web pages is allowed because of the presence of these items. If your browser does not support the use of cookies, they can be deleted prematurely, which would cause the behavior you have noticed.
I am an Academy member, but I am not registered with the Service. Can I still use the On-Line Service?
Yes, if you would like to view Practice Opportunities as a job seeker. Just use your Academy member ID number or personalized Username at the Job Seeker Log In screen.
If you would like to view Job Seekers on-line, you must be have an active subscription with the Placement Service as an employer.
Is there a fee to participate in the Service?
A one-year online Practice Opportunities listing along with a one-year subscription to view the Job Seekers listings and CVs cost only $600. If you are seeking employment, the Service is free.
I've signed up for a listing, what happens next?
We will process your online listing form and e-mail a confirmation to the email address in the listing. Since our Web site is updated daily, your practice opportunity will be posted online on the next business day. Employers will not be able to search for candidates until they receive the confirmation email.
I've purchased a subscription, why can’t I search for candidates?
Employers who purchase a subscription must also fill out the listing form. Even if you do not wish to create a listing but you do want to search for candidates, you must click on Add a new listing and submit the listing form to activate your subscription.
I'm no longer looking, how do I delete my listing?
You may now remove your listing online! Log in as you would to edit your listing. Select the type of ad: for Job Seekers, select "I have found a position, please remove" or for Employers, select "Filled". Scroll down and click on "Update Job Seekers" or "Update Practice Opportunities". Please print screen confirming your listing has been removed.
If you are not able to update your listing online, please Send us a note with your name and AAOS ID number and we will remove your listing from the Placement Service database.
I am an active fellow member of the AAOS, are there any discounted rates for the Placement Service?
The Placement Service is only free to members seeking employment. The Placement Fee of $600 is a flat fee that applies to all participants who are hiring a new associate.
