Exam Objectives:

Apply principles of biomechanics and biomaterials to the treatment of orthopaedic patients focusing on joint replacement and traumatic injuries.
Apply principles of microbiology and pharmacology to the treatment of infections.
Apply basic science principles to the treatment pathology and neoplasms.
Apply principles of biochemistry to the treatment of orthopaedic patients focusing on growth factors and fracture repair and healing.
Apply principles of anatomy and physiology to the treatment of orthopaedic patients.

Maintenance of Certification (MOC)©

The 2006 Orthopaedic Basic Science Self-Assessment Examination can help fulfill the CME requirements mandated by the ABOS Maintenance of Certification (MOC)© process. The 2006 Orthopaedic Basic Science Self-Assessment Examination cannot be applied to the scored and recorded self-assessment examination requirement as mandated by the ABOS Maintenance of Certification (MOC)© process.

CME Credit

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons designates this educational activity for a maximum of 10 Category 1 credits toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the activity.
