Postgraduate Orthopaedic Fellowships 2009
Accreditation Through ACGME
The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and its Residency Review Committees (RRC) are the accrediting bodies for training programs in medical specialties. The RRC for Orthopaedics currently provides accreditation of orthopaedic fellowships in the following categories:
- Adult Reconstructive Orthopaedics
- Foot and Ankle
- Hand Surgery
- Musculoskeletal Oncology
- Orthopaedic Sports Medicine
- Orthopaedic Surgery of the Spine
- Orthopaedic Trauma
- Pediatric Orthopaedics
The RRC for Orthopaedics holds two meetings per year, in January and June, to review applications for accreditation for orthopaedic fellowships. Applications for program accreditation must be received by the RRC office at least two months prior to the meeting dates to allow for thorough review and processing.
