A key component of your MOC plan
As you review your Maintenance of Certification™ requirements and prepare for the computer-based ABOS Recertification Examination, turn to the AAOS for focused learning to help you prepare. Led by an experienced teaching faculty, the AAOS Board Maintenance of Certification™ Preparation and Review course should be a key component of your educational plan. Choose from two locations and two dates for the session that best fits your schedule.

Orthopaedic knowledge “check-up”
Follow along as faculty presents the critical material you need to know across the orthopaedic specialties. You’ll cover management options for reconstructive and traumatic musculoskeletal conditions, assess evidence-based orthopaedic literature, and “check-up” on your knowledge in every area of orthopaedics. Your skilled faculty uses and references the chapters of Orthopaedic Knowledge Update 8 and Orthopaedic Knowledge Update 9 as a basis for the lectures. Exam questions on the computer-based ABOS Recertification Examination are not based on statements from OKU 8 and OKU 9, but 80-90% of the ABOS exam can be attributed to content found in those AAOS publications.

Test yourself throughout the course using an Audience Response System, to review and answer sample test questions before and after lectures. Gain the knowledge and confidence you need to achieve your MOC goal by integrating this review course into your personal curriculum and Maintenance of Certification preparation.

This course is designed to give you the knowledge and skills to:

  • Apply current clinical, laboratory, and diagnostic imaging methods to clinical decision-making skills in pediatric and adult musculoskeletal disorders.
  • Compare and contrast current operative and non-operative treatment strategies for a wide spectrum of adult and pediatric, upper and lower extremity, and traumatic and non-traumatic orthopaedic conditions.
  • Appraise management options for reconstructive and traumatic musculoskeletal conditions and differentiate among the indications and contraindications for each.
  • Discuss evidence-based orthopaedic literature concerning a wide array of common musculoskeletal conditions in children and adults.
