This course is designed for orthopaedic educators, residency program directors, instructional course chairs, and others responsible for orthopaedic education. The accelerated five-day program will keep you on the cutting edge of today’s most important educational developments. Small group discussions, lectures and problem-solving exercises give you the tools to facilitate resident learning, evaluate resident and program goals and problems, and address important considerations in academic faculty career development. You’ll learn a variety of approaches to teach orthopaedic residents and communicate educational concepts and proposals to students, peers, and leaders.

This course is designed to give you the knowledge and skills to:

  • Understand a variety of approaches to teaching orthopaedic residents
  • Develop appropriate curricula to facilitate resident learning
  • Formulate specific resident learning goals and develop educational experiences to allow residents to achieve these goals
  • Develop strategies to assess resident learning
  • Evaluate the current effectiveness of your own teaching practices
  • Clearly communicate educational concepts and proposals to learners, peers, and leaders
  • Help you analyze and develop your own career as an orthopaedic educator
  • Contribute to the ability of your residency program to comply with ACGME guidelines

Request for a refund must be received in writing in the Academy Office (AAOS, 6300 North River Road, Rosemont, IL 60018-4262) by October-24-2010. In all instances a cancellation fee will be charged. Beyond these dates, no monetary refunds will be issued. Instead, the tuition amount, less cancellation fee, will be credited toward another AAOS course within one year.

The Academy reserves the right to cancel a course thirty (30) days prior to the course date. Any person who has registered for the course will be notified by email and/or certified mail at the address noted in the AAOS member database. A telephone call will also be made to each registrant for whom a number is available. Persons whose registration is received after a course is cancelled will be notified by telephone, email or mail. Registration fees will be refunded in full. However, other costs incurred by the registrant, such as airline or hotel penalties are the responsibility of the registrant.
