Participants in Academy surgical skills programs must have completed or be currently enrolled in a residency program accredited by either the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). Surgeons from outside of the United States are required to have similar residency program credentials.

Improve your confidence in diagnosing and managing pediatric orthopaedic sports injures and conditions Didactic and hands-on surgical skill training in the management of sports injuries in children and adolescents including techniques of: transphyseal ACL reconstruction, physeal-sparing ACL reconstruction, medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction, Galeazzi semitendinosis tenodesis, OCD fixation, mosaicplasty for chondral resurfacing, all-inside meniscus repair, inside-out meniscus repair, elbow arthroscopy and management of capitellum OCD, shoulder arthroscopy with Bankart repair and SLAP repair, and open shoulder inferior capsular shift.
This course is designed to give you the knowledge and skills to:
- Evaluate patients with pediatric sports injuries and formulate a treatment plan
- Identify pediatric anatomy characteristics and basic science principles of musculoskeletal injuries in children and adolescents
- Compare and contrasts various surgical and nonsurgical treatment protocols for pediatric sports injureis and conditions
- Discuss alternative treatment and rehabilitation techniques for injuries occuring in young athletes
- Manage surgical complications in pediatric sports injuries and learn how to avoid them

Request for a refund must be received in writing in the Academy Office (AAOS, 6300 North River Road, Rosemont, IL 60018-4262) by June-18-2010. In all instances a cancellation fee will be charged. Beyond these dates, no monetary refunds will be issued. Instead, the tuition amount, less cancellation fee, will be credited toward another AAOS course within one year.
The Academy reserves the right to cancel a course thirty (30) days prior to the course date. Any person who has registered for the course will be notified by email and/or certified mail at the address noted in the AAOS member database. A telephone call will also be made to each registrant for whom a number is available. Persons whose registration is received after a course is cancelled will be notified by telephone, email or mail. Registration fees will be refunded in full. However, other costs incurred by the registrant, such as airline or hotel penalties are the responsibility of the registrant.
