Participants in Academy surgical skills programs must have completed or be currently enrolled in a residency program accredited by either the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). Surgeons from outside of the United States are required to have similar residency program credentials.

This dynamic skills course will focus on refining your techniques for complex knee injuries in athletes of all ages with the focus on surgical skills. Faculty will emphasize proven surgical techniques to accelerate return-to-sport and avoid postoperative complications. Topics will include single and double bundle ACL reconstruction, PCL reconstruction, HTO, meniscus repair and transplant, autograft and allograft osteochondral transplant.
This course is designed to give you the knowledge and skills to:
- Evaluate patients with ACL tears and formulate a treatment plan.
- Review anatomy and basic science of posterolateral corner injuries.
- Discuss rehabilitation techniques for ACL and PCL reconstruction.
- Compare and contrast techniques of PCL reconstruction
- Discuss complications of ACL reconstruction and how to avoid them
- Distinguish between or among the equipment alternatives necessary to perform meniscus repair
- Understand the common treatment options for articular cartilage injuries and the basic science of these techniques

Beyond these dates, no monetary refunds will be issued. Instead, the tuition amount, less cancellation fee, will be credited toward another AAOS course within one year.
The Academy reserves the right to cancel a course thirty (30) days prior to the course date. Any person who has registered for the course will be notified by email and/or certified mail at the address noted in the AAOS member database. A telephone call will also be made to each registrant for whom a number is available. Persons whose registration is received after a course is cancelled will be notified by telephone, email or mail. Registration fees will be refunded in full. However, other costs incurred by the registrant, such as airline or hotel penalties are the responsibility of the registrant.
