Participants in Academy surgical skills programs must have completed or be currently enrolled in a residency program accredited by either the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). Surgeons from outside of the United States are required to have similar residency program credentials.

Refine your skills and learn new techniques
Learn effective arthroscopic procedures for the elbow and wrist as well as new, advanced techniques for contracture release, fracture treatment and stabilization. This course offers a combination of didactic instruction, faculty demonstrations, debates and hands-on lab practice designed to clarify the pros and cons of various treatments and impart a new skill set or level of comfort with treating traumatic and degenerative problems of the elbow and wrist.

This year’s course includes new topics including: treatment of osteochondritis dissecans of the elbow, arthroscopic nerve dissection and protection, dry wrist arthroscopy, arthroscopic wrist contracture release, small joint (CMC and MCP) arthroscopy and an expanded and lively debate on controversial topics. In addition, there is a Thursday evening debate and case presentation session for participants who arrive early.
This course is designed to give you the knowledge and skills to:
- Evaluate, diagnose and understand the pathoanatomy of traumatic and degenerative conditions of the elbow and wrist
- Compare and contrast surgical and nonsurgical treatment protocols for elbow and wrist instability, fractures and arthritis
- Demonstrate elbow and wrist arthroscopy techniques
- Manage complications of wrist arthroscopy and how to avoid them
Who should attend this course?
This course will benefit practicing orthopaedic and fellowship-trained spine surgeons who have been in practice for several years.

Request for a refund must be received in writing in the Academy Office (AAOS, 6300 North River Road, Rosemont, IL 60018-4262) by November-06-2009. In all instances a cancellation fee will be charged. Beyond these dates, no monetary refunds will be issued. Instead, the tuition amount, less cancellation fee, will be credited toward another AAOS course within one year.
The Academy reserves the right to cancel a course thirty (30) days prior to the course date. Any person who has registered for the course will be notified by email and/or certified mail at the address noted in the AAOS member database. A telephone call will also be made to each registrant for whom a number is available. Persons whose registration is received after a course is cancelled will be notified by telephone, email or mail. Registration fees will be refunded in full. However, other costs incurred by the registrant, such as airline or hotel penalties are the responsibility of the registrant.
