Bridge the gap between workplace injuries and health care

In handling work-related injuries your patient care role expands beyond clinical treatment to incorporate legal, administrative, ethical, and insurance issues. For a decade, orthopaedic surgeons and other health care professionals have turned to this course to increase their effectiveness and understanding of the elements that comprise worker s’ compensation cases.

Dr. Melhorn and an expert group of returning and new faculty give a fresh perspective to the treatment options that help you improve your outcomes for work-related injuries. your faculty will guide you through patient care management with stay-at-work and return-to-work options, and effective strategies for handling the non-medical issues associated with workers' compensation.

Your mornings are devoted to return-to-work, occupational orthopaedics, liability, and plaintiff and defense perspectives. Each afternoon, you will rotate through concurrent breakout session dedicated to understanding impairment and disability using the AMA Guides 5th and 6th Editions, ODG and ACOEM Guides.
