Dr. Clohisy presently acts as Co-Chief of Adult Reconstructive Surgery and Director of the Adolescent and Young Adult Hip Program in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine. He completed his Fellowship training in Adult Hip and Knee Reconstruction Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical. School. |
He served his residency in Orthopaedic surgery and performed a research fellowship at St. Louis University Health Center. He earned his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School. He specializes in hip and knee implant surgeries, comprehensive surgical care of adolescent and young adult hip disorders and has a specific interest in joint preservation surgery of the hip. In addition to clinical activities, Dr. Clohisy is involved in clinical research focused on the diagnosis and treatment of young adult hip disorders and the clinical performance of hip and knee implants. His basic biology work focuses on the molecular mechanisms of periprosthetic osteolysis. Specifically, defining the essential osteoclastogenic signaling pathways that mediate implant particle-induced osteoclastogenesis and osteolysis with a long-term goal of investigating pharmaceutical inhibition of particle-induced bone resorption. During the AAOS/OREF traveling research fellowship, Dr. Clohisy will visit three institutions to strengthen specific aspects of his basic biology program, and to gain insight into the organization and implementation of multi-disciplinary research programs.

Sheldon S. Lin, MD, attended Pennsylvania State University as part of a six year BS-MD program and earned his MD from Jefferson Medical College. He continued his studies as research fellow under Rocky Tuan, PhD, his orthopedic residency under Richard Rothman, MD, PhD, at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and his foot and ankle fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin. |
He has held an appointment since 1996 in the Department of Orthopaedics of UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School. His research focuses on the impaired bone healing process.
